Grants and Camps

Diabetes Camp

Improving blood sugar is essential to avoid and decrease complications from Diabetes. This is contingent on the ability of the person to know how to care for him/herself and to cope with the pain, stress, and nuisance of having Diabetes. This is extremely difficult for children with Diabetes.

One of the best ways to do this is through intense education with peers in a camp setting.

The Diabetes National Institute awards Educational Grants to Diabetes Camp to:

1. Develop programs prior to when the children attend camp

2. Administer educational programs to children in Diabetes Camp

Diabetes Education Grants have supported programs within camps throughout the United States, including Lion's Camp Merrick, Inc.
